Aylesham is a market town midway between Norwich and Cromar on the coast which is approximately 10 miles away to the north. The River Bure flows close to the town centre and flows south, meandering for much of its journey to the Norfolk Broads , eventually exiting into the North sea at Great Yarmouth.
The Bure Valley railway, a minimum gauge railway (smaller in scale to narrow gauge) with steam and diesel locomotives which runs to Wroxam 9 miles away is just a short distance outside the town centre.
