Bakewell in Derbyshire is located on the A6 Buxton Road and on the River Wye within the Peak District National Park. The Market town has a relatively small population though is probably better known as the origin of the Bakewell pudding though it tends to be referred to as a Bakewell tart which is a more modern derivation of the name and quite a different recipe. The area is popular as a holiday cottage destination due to its central location within the park, with Buxton close by, as is the popular Chatsworth House, plus both northern and southern parts of the park both a similar distance. There are some pleasant walks on the River Wye close to the town with views of local wildlife, the 13-Century 5 arch bridge and the River Wye weir in Bakewell forming a larger expanse of water on the upstream
