Portinscale is a village close to Keswick on the North Western shore of Derwentwater. The village is approximately 1.5 miles from Keswick by road though the distance on foot can be considerably shortened by using a relatively new footbridge over the River Derwent into Keswick Town Centre via the fields knows as the Howrahs part of which forms the Cumbrian Way footpath
